Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. I was searching all summer for a grove of poplar or birch trees to photograph. I found these in Northern Wisconsin as the sun was setting. I loved how the trees seemed to glow in the light of the setting sun.
